Cirba Integrates Infrastructure Control Analytics with Hybrid Cloud Solutions from Hewlett Packard Enterprises

Toronto, Ontario – December 6, 2016 – Today, Cirba Inc. announced the integration of its software-defined infrastructure control analytics with Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Cloud Service Automation software to deliver unprecedented VM density, flexibility and automation. Cloud Service Automation is part of the new Hybrid Cloud Management suite, and HPE customers running hybrid cloud deployments will benefit from Cirba’s industry leading predictive optimization and workload placement analytics.

The integration of Cirba and HPE Cloud Service Automation software provides:

  • Policy controlled and optimal workload placement across private and public cloud including Microsoft Azure, AWS and VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud Air
  • Continuous optimization through predictive workload rebalancing and resource tuning

The integration creates an advanced hybrid cloud ecosystem that provides high agility, high automation, high workload density and enterprise-class governance across the lifecycle of an application or business service, and brings together several key products:

  • Cirba Software-defined Infrastructure Control (SDIC) models and analyzes hybrid clouds comprised of a wide range of virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, VMware vCloud Air, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack with KVM, IBM PowerVM, and Amazon Web Services. Cirba optimizes routing, reservation, placement and infrastructure decisions to ensure efficiency and fit for purpose infrastructure for cloud services.
  • HPE Cloud Service Automation (CSA) is the hybrid cloud management software for orchestrating the provisioning of cloud services and managing deployed instances, including monitoring, event processing, escalation, analytics, compliance, notification/incident handling and remediation.
  • HPE OneView is a comprehensive platform for managing HPE server, storage and networking infrastructure. OneView supports dynamic provisioning or reconfiguration of server hardware based on server profiles.
  • HPE OneView for VMware vCenter is integrated with VMware vCenter and simplifies administration of VMware vSphere running on HPE server hardware managed by OneView. OneView for vCenter allows users to deploy vSphere/ESXi hosts on bare-metal HPE ProLiant servers directly from vCenter with a simple right click.

As part of the integration, Cirba and HPE have jointly developed an HPE Reference Configuration for Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Using Cirba, HPE Cloud System Automation and HPE OneView. This reflects proven deployment best practices, and guides customers in the deployment of the HPE and Cirba products to enable critical hybrid cloud management functions:

  • Day 1 Routing and Placement of New VMs – As users request new VMs to be provisioned in hybrid cloud environments through CSA’s self-service marketplace portal, CSA automatically leverages Cirba’s analysis to determine the best hosting venue for the new cloud instances.
  • Day N Optimization of Deployed VMs – On an ongoing basis, Cirba and CSA monitor and evaluate the hybrid cloud environment to ensure that the deployed VMs are in the optimal hosting venue, and if not, the two products work seamlessly to re-route and place these VMs in a new location, including both on-prem and off-prem.
  • Right-sizing VMware Clusters – For on-prem hosting environments using HPE servers and storage, Cirba predictively analyzes the available capacity of each VMware cluster to ensure there is sufficient capacity for current and planned VMs. For clusters with shortfalls, Cirba provides precise hardware provisioning recommendations that allow users to deploy additional ESXi hosts using the OneView for vCenter plugin.

The joint solution enables organizations to achieve agility and real-time cloud provisioning, while at the same time adding enterprise-class governance and control over application hosting decisions. When used in combination with HPE servers, HPE storage and cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, this not only minimizes the unit cost of hosting workloads, but also reduces capacity-related risk by performing detailed analysis of workload patterns to enable predictive alignment of infrastructure supply and application demand.
